Glee while Packing and The Baxters

Okay, so just kidding......I decided to post again this week. :) I am packing for our trip and put a bunch of Glee songs in the website called Grooveshark. If you haven't heard of it, its pretty awesome. You can go here and type in any song you want to hear and you can play it for free and create playlists. There is just something about the cast of Glee's songs that just make me smile.....and every time I watch the show I just can't help but smile during the whole thing.

On another random note...I LOVE Karen Kingsbury's books and specifically the Baxter Family Series. For those of ya'll who have read these books, you know what a deep connection you form with the characters. I was on her website today and found out that today and tomorrow there is a Baxter Family Reunion in Bloomington, IN, where the books take place. It is a two day event with separate events that take place at different locations throughout the town where significant events happened....so cool! I know I sound like a dork but you seriously just don't know until you read these books. They are so great!

Alrighty, well I am going to get back to packing. So excited to see all of my amazing family so soon!! :)

Father's Day and a Proverbs 31 Woman

I first want to say Happy Father's Day to my wonderful dad.
I think I am just now realizing all of the things that this man has done for me. He was (and still is :)) quite the silly daddy and growing up he loved to tease my sisters and I and we would incessantly quote the verse "Father's don't exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." But, he truly did bring us up in the training and instruction of Christ and for that I am eternally grateful. He provided such care, provision, and love in our home in ways that I didn't even realize. Thank you, dad, for everything you have done and sacrificed for me and our family. I love you with all of my heart!
I love that my dad has become such a softie as he gets older :)....he was giving his baby girl away and this picture shows the emotion in his heart.
So, I stayed home from church this morning because I wasn't feeling great, and I am so glad that I did. (That sounds horrible, but I promise its not. :)) I was able to spend some good, quality, time with my Lord and pour out my heart and also be still and listen to Him. It has been a long time since I have done that, and, I needed to just be at the feet of Jesus. I am so thankful how he always draws me to himself despite my sinful heart that is always wandering when I know how great He is. Thank you Lord Jesus for your unconditional love and grace.
I spent some time reading Proverbs 31 and how I long to be a "wife of noble character". So often, I realize how lazy I can be. God calls us as women to "work with eager hands", make sure that our "lamp does not go out at night", "get up while it is still dark", and "set about our work vigorously." Do I think God means that we can never sleep and always have to be working? No. But, I do think he desires for us to be busy for him, not wasting the time we have here on earth. He desires for us to be hard workers at home, making sure we are staying busy, and not doing things begrudgingly or with a bad attitude, but with a heart that longs to serve God and our husbands.

I have the privilege of knowing my pastor's mom; she is a wise woman in the Lord and every time she opens her mouth, people listen. :) I remember her saying one time that in ALL things, we can honor Christ. While we are doing the laundry, or emptying the dishwasher, or making dinner, we can be praying to him, meditating on scripture, and singing praises to him. This is so great because so many times I see these things as annoying mundane things that have to be done, and sometimes I just simply don't want to do them. I need to look at these things as opportunities to enjoy spending time with the Lord and in his presence.

Well, I think that is all I have today. :) I probably won't be posting anymore this week because on Wednesday we are leaving for Stone Mountain, GA and will be here for the weekend....
g
My absolutely adorable grandparents will be celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary and my whole family will be staying here....I am so excited I can't even handle it. Then, to top things off, I am spending 3 1/2 more days in Pensacola with my sisters, nieces, and my cousin Katie and her munchkins....SO EXCITED. I hope ya'll have a great week! :)

Think its time for an update?

So I find it ironic that when I go to some of my favorite blogs and they haven't updated in a while I get a little upset when I haven't posted in a million years. I know I have so many blog fans (HAHA) who just cannot wait for my next post, so I am so sorry to keep you waiting. :) Totally kidding. But seriously, if I have this thing, I need to use it. Thankfully I have some pretty wonderful vacations coming up this summer which will keep me posting. And I am doing a little bit of DIYing to our little home....I plan on making pillows and curtains. Here is a little sneak peak...more to come when I can get myself in gear. :)

And in other news, this is pretty much all you missed....Here is my life in a nutshell. :)

Love you all! :) Have a great week. So glad Monday is over!
