His Name Is.... & a Letter :)

Our sweet baby boy's name will be...

Grayson Patrick Garlich

Matt and I both loved the name Grayson right when we heard it & it goes so well with our last name.  I immediately could imagine that little person and his name just seemed to fit with the picture in my mind.  There was a bit of a time when Grayson's daddy "wasn't feeling it" but he thankfully got over that phase :) and we were back in action.  We started talking about middle names & one night in the car, Matt looked at me and said, "What about Grayson Patrick?" to which I immediately knew that was it.  That was our baby's name.  Patrick was the sweet brother of my hubby who went to be with Jesus before his first birthday.  From everything I know and pictures I have seen, he was a precious baby and we are so excited & honored to be able to carry on his legacy in this next generation. :)

My precious baby boy,

You have been in my belly for about 26 weeks and are making yourself quite at home in there. :)  I absolutely LOVE feeling you roll, kick, and turn around at all hours of the day and night.  It is a feeling that you just can't quite describe until you experience it yourself but I don't think I will ever get sick of it.  Your daddy and I can't WAIT to meet you and see what/who you look like.  At lunch today, we were talking about you and what your little personality would be like.  We talked about how we want to raise you up to learn about Jesus and live for him.  We vowed that praying and reading scripture at night together will be a nightly family act.  We are praying for your sweet heart, and that the Lord is ripening it to know Him.  We are praying for your health, your future, and that your daddy and I would be wise and trust in the Lord to help us raise you.  It's a little scary to think about, but we know that He is near to us and will help us to raise you despite our shortcomings and flaws.  I am so thankful for your dad, because I know he will be SUCH a wonderful father.  He will be a tough cookie discipline wise, but he also has the softest heart and will be there for you no matter the circumstance.  And goodness, is he ready to throw the football, teach you how to play catch, and dunk some basketballs with you!  Grayson, my sweet baby boy- you are loved, wanted, prayed for, and adored.  Your daddy and I are so very thankful for how the Lord is blessing our family with you!  We love you and can't WAIT to meet you (although you're not quite ready yet & we still have a lot to do, so stay comfy in there for another 13 or so weeks. :))!

With all the love in our hearts,
                                                                                                            Mom and Dad :)

A Wedding & Renovations

It's been a while since I last posted & to say we've been busy is an understatement.  I feel like life is zooming past me and I can't quite catch up with it but it's all good things (for the most part :)).  I'm going to do another post telling our sweet little man's name.

I'll start by recapping Kelly & John's wedding.  It was a beautiful, worshipful ceremony and a super fun reception!  I am so blessed with not just my immediate in-law family, but all of my extended in-laws...I just adore Matt's aunts and uncles and it was wonderful being together with everyone!  Here are some pictures that I completely stole from Uncle Bryan. ;)  I didn't take any pictures over the weekend which is pretty pitiful but we were busy the whole time so I am giving myself an excuse.  I can't wait to see the professional pictures!

Love him :)

My FIL and his three brothers :)...all awesome Garlich men!

Our sweet baby boy was a trooper and let me dance the night away until finally I was exhausted and fell asleep within minutes of the head hitting my pillow

My mother-in-law and her two sons :)

Kelly was seriously beaming and looked like Cinderella.  I have an absolutely beautiful sister-in-law, not just on the outside but on the inside too.  I love her and am so happy she FINALLY has married her best friend, our sweet Johnny boy. :)

Mom and daughter breaking it down on the dance floor. :)

The day after the wedding there was a brunch at a local park...it was so fun to see the newlyweds again and hang out with everyone.  This is my sweet in-love family and come February, we will all be official! :)  Can't wait till Hope and GG's wedding!! :)

My FMIL & her mom and sister, Matt's wonderful Aunt Sue

After the wedding, we (I say that very lightly because really there's not much I can do but supervise :)) have been kicking it in high gear on our house projects.

Our kitchen floor was tiled by some wonderful friends in our small group at church and Matt did our entire backsplash!  It's not completely finished yet so this is just a teaser photo.  I am SO BEYOND happy with our changes....it is BEAUTIFUL in person and just makes me so happy every time I walk in there.

There has been a little drama but nothing we can't handle :) (nothing is ever easy with house projects).  Matt has been ripping up the carpets upstairs preparing for our new carpets to be installed & he found a small spot of mold in our master bedroom.  We weren't sure if it was the bad kind (black mold) or not so we have been sleeping downstairs (our other beds are currently disassembled to make way for the new carpet). We closed off our room & I have not been allowed to go in there because my sweet hubby doesn't want me & our baby boy remotely near the mold.  It's also been a little rough because we didn't want to run our A/C to for fear of circulating the mold through the air so needless to say in late June, it's been a little hot for this preggo girl.  Temporarily, Matt got a window A/C unit downstairs that has been making it tolerable but I can't wait to get back in my bed with the real A/C on & feeling much cooler!  Thankfully we got the report back today that the mold is not the bad kind.  We (lol, totally loosely- not we at all :)- more like HE) will just get rid of it and then life can go back to normal a little bit.

In the next several weeks to a month, our upstairs is being painted and then we'll get new carpet!  WOO HOO! :)  I'm trying to remain positive through it all and know that it's just for a brief season and it will all be worth it once it's complete!! :)

I am now semi- caught up with our lives.  Next up....our baby boy's name & a letter to him

22 Weeks

How far along? 22 Weeks

Here is me and our munchkin at 22 weeks:

Total weight gain: +16 (I am trying not to compare this with others because I really am trying to just be healthy but it is so hard when you SEE A NUMBER ON THE SCALE YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE.)

Maternity clothes? Yes, although I am still wearing most normal long tops. I just ordered some cute new outfits from Old Navy when they were having a 25% off everything sale & they came in the other day. That package made this preggo girl smile and I am so happy to have some new cute options because the ones I had were getting old fast!

Stretch marks? No, thank the Lord. :) Although it does freak me out a little bit when I wake up and look at my stomach and there are wrinkles from the sheets on my stomach.

Sleep: I am finally sleeping SO GREAT. My sweet husband moved our guest bed into our room right next to ours (they are each queens and they are touching each other so it is like one ginormous bed.) I also have pillows surrounding me and I am able to sleep pretty gloriously. Don't judge...we are still technically sleeping in one bed and I am enjoying getting my sleep now while I can. :)

Best moment this week: I think we have finally picked out a name for our little boy! I am so excited to share this but we kind of have to make the announcement to our families first. :)

Miss Anything? Not anything really....the second trimester is MUCH better! Well, maybe just sushi, Jersey Mike's deli sandwiches, regular (not decaf) coffee, wearing and looking cute in my White House Black Market bikinis that have never been worn. ;)

Movement: YES....tons! Although that little stinker won't let his daddy feel him quite yet. I will get so excited when I feel him and put Matt's hand on my tummy but as soon as I put it on there, he stops moving! I can't WAIT for his daddy to feel him!

Food cravings: Cupcakes. I may have given into this craving once or twice because there is this new cupcake place right down the street from my office and they are so stinkin good. And steak. Oh man, what I would give for a good steak.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Thankfully nothing. I am able to eat everything that used to make me queasy, praise the Lord.

Gender: A precious baby boy!

Have you started to show yet: You can definitely tell it's a baby bump now! Last week I had three strangers ask me what I was having and when I was due. And the sweetest lady in the history of checker-outers checked Matt and I out at Home Depot last week. She looked at me and said, "Awww...you are SO cute!" She then proceeded to ask me all sorts of questions and was saying "Aww....you are just adorable and all baby." Yeah, pretty much made my day. :)

Symptoms: Charlie horses in the middle of the night! I had forgotten what that felt like until one woke me up the other night and it hurt so bad! I kept whispering "oww, OWW" so I wouldn't wake Matty up and finally after I walked on it it went away.

Belly Button in or out? In except it is slowly looking like it's coming out....I'm not quite sure what it is going to do next. ;)

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy except I had a smidge of a hormonal moment when our microwave died in the middle of popping my popcorn. I may have stomped my foot when it happened.

Looking forward to: Our little man's Aunt Kelly is marrying Uncle John on June 7th. I am so excited for a week of fun, festivities, dancing, sweet time with family, and watching two of the most precious people I know unite in marriage. The rehearsal dinner is at Ruth's Chris so I am also extremely excited about eating an amazing steak. :) This weekend we also are going to Charlotte and High Point to see my cousin Katie and grandparents and we will be bringing home our sweet boy's crib and changing table! I can't wait to get them home and start putting his room together. :)

happenings.

Life at the Garlich house has been full & happy lately.

Lots of exciting things are happening like buying a new (to us) car for our family and my hardworking hubby making headway on some house projects to get ready for our little munchkin.  He's been ripping up carpet and prepping walls for paint and working on the backyard.  Our kitchen is kind of at a standstill until June when some of our friends from our small group are coming to help Matt tile our floors and put in our backsplash.

Here are some 19 week belly pictures...I'm now almost 21 weeks and it's amazing how every morning my stomach seems to get a little bigger.  I have SUCH a sweet doctor who helps my self esteem by saying things like "Aren't you an adorable pregnant woman" and hugging me.  That really helps balance out people at working saying things like, "wow, you are really getting bigger!" :)

I am feeling our little man move SO MUCH and it is the most amazing feeling ever.  Today I felt his little kick from the outside for the first time.  I was listening to the Journey song "Don't Stop Believin" and singing it loudly in my car and all of a sudden I felt it strong!  Almost like either he was dancing along or saying it's too loud mom!! :)

Matt is out of town on a business trip until tomorrow so I can't wait till he gets back & can feel him.  Every time he moves around in there, it makes me laugh and sometimes the way he moves tickles (which is kind of weird because it tickles on the inside) but I just LOVE feeling him moving around in there.  I am so blessed to be able to carry around this little person even though there are some crazy weird symptoms that come along with being pregnant, I always want to be thankful for the amazing miracle that the Lord is growing inside.

Here is his precious little self hanging out at our 20 week ultrasound

My sweet friend Sarah sent Baby G a care package with some of her favorite books and it was so fun to recieve it in the mail and I can't wait to read them to him when he gets here. :)

We have been looking for several months for the perfect deal for an SUV because we are planning on selling my Honda.  We have had the help of my amazing car guru brother-in-law and we were SO happy to find the perfect one for our family at a great deal.  I keep looking at the back seat and can't imagine that soon there will be a little tiny person in a car seat. :)

And we can't forget about our first baby, Lucy.  It's been a while since she's made an appearance on the blog and I love this precious picture I took while she was naping the other day.  I love this girl and she is getting very excited to meet her baby brother in September.
